Pocahontas High School Indians
Presented by The Pocahontas High School Grand Reunion Committee
Requiem for Pocahontas High School
By LaDonna Johnson Olanyk
The lights are out; the shades are drawn
The sounds of learning now are gone.
The quiet halls; no sound is heard
No whispered voices – not a word.
No ringing bells, no running feet
The building echoes with defeat.
And from the field, a ghostly cheer?
No, that we never more will hear.
Abandoned dreams, an empty shell
To PHS, we bid farewell.
True Indians can feel the pain
Only our memories remain.
