About Us

In 1983, a small group of people got together and decided that it would be nice to invite everyone that attended their old high school to come back home for a reunion of sorts.

The school was Pocahontas High School in the Town of Pocahontas, VA and the first reunion was held in 1984 and called The Homecoming Celebration. Ten years later, the Homecoming Celebration 1994 was held.

In 2001, the Pocahontas High School Grand Reunion Committee was formed with the purpose of planning a Grand Reunion every three years beginning in 2002. And plan they did.

The Grand Reunions are attended by hundreds of former Indians. In the begining, everyone who attended Pocahontas High School from 1930 to 1960 are invited to the reunion. Staff members and friends are invited as well. The Grand Reunions are three day events with a golf tournament and a social on Friday. A dinner and dance on Saturday. And a picnic on Sunday.

And those are just the scheduled events. There are also impromptu “get-togethers”, small reunions, dinners, parties, and of course – the obligatory “hanging out” in good old Pocy. After the original Grand Reunion, the Grand Reunion Committee kept adding more and more addresses to more and more classes. Now every class is invited up to 2008 and beyond. Everyone who graduated, attended, were a teacher or staff member, or are friends with Pocahontas High School are now made welcome.

Besides planning the Grand Reunions, the Pocahontas High School Grand Reunion Committee also has a focus on helping where they can in and around the Town of Pocahontas. Proceeds from the Grand Reunion are distributed in the form of donations and scholarships. And this website was established with the goal of helping all the Indians keep up to date with the events and happenings in and around the Town of Pocahontas, VA.
